Registered Equine Massage Therapist - Mary Hayes

Hi, I'm Mary Hayes, REMT. I am a Registered Equine Massage Therapist, Registered Massage Therapist, and Cranial Sacral Therapist. Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, I have been living in Southwestern Ontario since 2009. I started my practice as a REMT and RMT in 2011, and from 2012 to 2018, I taught the Theory and Technique course at the D’Arcy Lane Institute of Massage Therapy.

My primary focus in equine massage therapy is on horses in the hunter/jumper world, though I am open to working with horses in all disciplines. I love collaborating with owners on injury rehabilitation and post-surgery recovery, and I help design fitness programs that integrate massage therapy with at-home exercises to improve strength and conditioning.

Horses have played a pivotal role in my life for as long as I can remember. I began competing in the hunter/jumper division at the age of eleven and have enjoyed many successful years in the show ring. One of my proudest moments was competing with my heart horse, Kasey, in the four-foot hunter division at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto in 2018. Recently, I have also ventured into breeding horses. In 2024, I purchased a young mare and bred my first foal, a filly! I am anticipating another foal in 2026, and working with young horses to support their development is truly a passion of mine.

My husband and I live on a small farm just outside of St. Thomas, Ontario, where we share our home with our horses, twelve cows, two cattle dogs, a Saint Bernard, and seven cats. Outside of my professional work as a Registered Massage Therapist, I enjoy playing soccer, skiing, camping, and baking. I have recently taken up growing fresh-cut flowers on our farm and returned to my creative interests in art and photography, which I initially explored while studying Fine Arts at university before dedicating myself to massage therapy.
