Equine Massage Therapy - Kara Sleeman, REMT
Kara Sleeman is a Registered Equine Massage Therapist (REMT) certified by the International Federation of Registered Equine Massage Therapists (IFREMT). Based in Calgary, she serves the city and its surrounding areas while collaborating with Moore Equine Veterinary Clinic. Through this partnership, she has gained extensive hands-on experience with a diverse range of horses in various performance and rehabilitation environments.
Kara's expertise in equine anatomy and biomechanics allows her to create thoughtful, individualized treatment plans that enhance optimal movement, comfort, and overall well-being. She prioritizes building trust, taking the time to understand each horse’s unique needs, and tailoring her approach to support both physical functionality and long-term soundness.
In 2025, Kara expanded her qualifications by becoming certified in Myofascial Decompression Therapy (cupping therapy). She integrates this effective modality into her treatments to boost circulation, alleviate fascial restrictions, and support recovery, all while complementing her hands-on equine massage therapy.
Beyond her work with horses, Kara also has significant experience in canine massage therapy, having worked with canine athletes and the police canine unit in Ontario before moving out west. Her background with high-energy dogs influences her calm, patient, and detail-oriented approach in both equine and canine massage therapy services that she currently offers.
In her leisure time, Kara enjoys paddle boarding with her dogs, exploring the beautiful mountains, and staying active outdoors. She also values quieter days for recharging and spending quality time with loved ones.
